  I STILL STRUGGLE WITH MY PERIOD I started menstruating at the age of 14 and to be completely honest, I wasn’t excited. After noticing blood in my underwear the first thing I did was i rushed to my mom and i told her about my ordeal. It was daunting because I had seen how most girls struggle with their period. So after telling my mom that I’m now menstruating the first thing she said that stuck with me till this day was “now that you are menstruating, take good care of yourself, you might get pregnant”. I've gained a few kilos so what?

I’ve gained a few kilos so what? Growing up I’ve never had weight issues, I was always the slim one in the family. I never thought I would gain more than 10kilos, well life has its own surprises.  I started gaining weight when I turned  21 ,at first I couldn’t deal with it ( I mean I eat three times a day, sometimes four times a day) I couldn’t deal with the sudden weight gain . However I have learnt to embrace who I am and how I look, what irks me is the nasty comments I get. I'm not obese, I don’t have detrimental health issues (maybe one or two health conditions which I’ve accepted).
